Lunch Lecture: NS
Every year a new timetable for the Dutch railway system is designed by the railway companies like NS and Arriva, and the infrastructure manager ProRail. This planning is updated daily, railway freight trains are often planned on short term. The planning system that is used is called “Donna”. Planners try to make the planning conflict-free, so that trains never have to stop and wait for another train while driving. The module that detects conflicts in the planning has been redesigned, train movements and occupation of the infrastructure are simulated on a very detailed level in order to improve the quality of the conflict detection. Grab some lunch and enjoy the online lecture about NS.
