The second lunch lecture of the year will be given by honorary CH member Cor Kraaikamp. Enjoy some free lunch while listening to his talk about number evolution in numeral systems.
“Number Expansions are things we all use every day; decial and binary expansions are with us all the time. But what do we really know about them? And if we make seemingly small changes to the way we define them, what will happen? In this short talk I will give an idea what happens if we slightly change the positive integer base 10 (in case of the decimal expansion) or 2 (for binary expansions) to a non-integer β > 1. Some surprising things happen!”
