LunCH Lecture – Booking.com

In this talk, we will have a look at Booking.com’s remarkable on-going journey migrating its historical monolithic codebase to a state-of-the-art service oriented architecture.
We’ll first take a high-level look at the tech culture, tech stack, and scale (~millions of queries per day) we deal with at Booking.com.
We’ll focus on one of the most common migration patterns widely used at Booking.com, the Strangler-Fig Pattern, to understand how we’re rewriting our systems incrementally whilst serving our millions of users every day with minimal operational impact.
Finally, we’ll share some of the challenges we faced, and the learnings we gathered along the way.
